Package Design

The goal of this project was to create specialty packaging for The Great Gatsby film soundtrack that could succeed in translating the story and Jazz age sensibility of F. Scott Fitzgerald’s novel into a physical object.

Due to the growth of the digital age, it was important for the package to be unique and interactive, which led to the idea of creating a completely unmarked package.
The only marking on the outside of the box is a peep-hole door that, when opened, reveals the omniscient eyes of Dr. T.J. Ecklburg. The box opens to reveal the modern art deco pattern that is used throughout the film’s promotion, the CD with Jay Gatsby's monogram, and the limited edtion lyric booklet. The lyric booklet carries on the story through a series of images from the film.
